Why DE?

Distance Education (DE) is an overarching term to cover any educational form of learning that is not provided on campus. i.e. You don’t have to attend a campus to learn.

Boring, I don’t need to know about this?!

Just a second, read on…
§     Do things not change?
§     Does anyone really just learn and do the ‘one’ job for their entire life?
§     What has changed in telecommunications or even the Internet in the last decade?

Think about it

Let’s face it globalisation has changed how experiences, expectations and learning are viewed. “Rupert Murdoch argued that successful workers will be those who embrace a lifelong of learning”. This statement is contentious; however it is also quite true. Regardless of your circumstances or the reason you want to learn something new, DE is a way to allow this to happen when you are ready.

DE offers freedom,

  •  freedom to choose your university, no longer are locations an issue
  •  freedom to participate in your time, not someone else’s timetable
  •  and importantly, freedom to try something different, for you

So what do you need to know about DE?

There are many things you need to know but the first is:
  • DE is not for procrastinators!
  • DE is for the committed, the resourceful and the organised individual.
Concerned? Scared? Don’t be. Even so, higher academia is not for the faint-hearted or the lazy.

This is NOT an advert-blog, it’s a reflective blog, from someone who has been there and knows what it is all about.
